The role

Operates the screed unit of an asphalt paver to deliver a consistent, properly graded mat.

Responsibilities and qualifications

  • Operate the screed assembly on asphalt pavers, including Weiler P385 and Astec RP models.
  • Apply basic depth gauge conversions to maintain specified lift thickness.
  • Configure and troubleshoot screed settings to resolve mat defects in real time.
  • Set and maintain grade using three-point grade control systems.
